MANILA — La Salle Green Hills responded to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) call to implement stricter traffic measures along Ortigas Avenue, Mandaluyong City, and pledged cooperation on Friday.

School authorities said they have deployed security personnel to manage student drop-offs and pick-ups, guiding vehicles and preventing them from occupying multiple lanes on the busy road.
The MMDA thanked La Salle Green Hills for the prompt action, noting that the deployment of security personnel is part of broader efforts to reduce traffic congestion in the area.
The agency had called out the school for repeated traffic violations on Monday following complaints about heavy congestion during peak school hours.
From July 11 to Aug. 18, MMDA’s No Contact Apprehension Policy recorded 1,556 violations near the campus, most involving illegal parking, obstruction, and unauthorized loading and unloading.
Traffic enforcers have been stationed along Ortigas Avenue to manage vehicle flow and place traffic cones.
But some motorists engage both MMDA personnel and school security officers in heated verbal clash in attempting to park or drop off students.
MMDA Chairman Romando “Don” Artes said that repeated offenses continue to disrupt traffic despite fines and CCTV cameras installed in the area.
“The situation worsened because we issued even more tickets. We observed that despite the penalties and the installation of CCTV cameras, those dropping off and picking up students still occupy nearly all the lanes. It really causes disruption,” he said.
The agency urged La Salle Green Hills to enforce stricter internal rules, including organized drop-off points, controlled pick-up zones, and staff monitoring to prevent obstruction. It also encouraged coordination on joint traffic measures such as staggered schedules and designated loading and unloading areas to improve safety and convenience for all road users.

While service and private vehicles continue to occupy multiple lanes at times, the MMDA said the combined efforts of traffic enforcers and school security personnel are expected to gradually ease vehicular congestion on Ortigas Avenue.
